Pat Kuypers, All-Inclusive Specialist, Accredited Cruise Counsellor

Pat grew up in a small town on the Ontario/Quebec border and moved to Lindsay after completing her degree at St. Lawrence college to be with her husband, Bill. Her love of the outdoors was fostered through vacations as a child which were spent exploring what mother nature had to offer - she has canoed most of the waterways of Algonquin Park and skated the Rideau canal in Ottawa numerous times.

Watching the "Wonderful World of Disney" on TV every Sunday night was a family tradition and she promised herself that she would get there one day.   That dream was realized many years ago when she visited Walt Disney World in Florida with her family - the twenty-one hour drive was an adventure in itself with four kids. They have returned many times since, enjoying all the resort has to offer during different seasons and are Disney Vacation Club members.   One December, Pat and her daughter visited Walt Disney World once again, this time to see it all decorated for Christmas.

Cruising became an extension of their love of Disney with her first Disney cruise - her first ever cruise - in 2010.  She loved this new travel experience so much that Pat has cruised to the Eastern and Western Caribbean on all four of the Disney ships - the original Disney Wonder and Disney Magic and the newer Disney Fantasy (twice) and Disney Dream.

This spring, Pat was in Fort Lauderdale where she attended a cruise convention sponsored by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).   There she attended workshops, destination seminars, and a trade show to meet some of the requirements for her Master Cruise Counsellor designation.  She also toured and had lunch on the Holland America Zuiderdam and the Norwegian Escape.  Since Pat and her husband drove, they were able to spend some time at Disney and she also checked out Hilton Head, known as a great golfing destination. She was so impressed, they made a return visit this fall.

Pat has also sailed on Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas and Allure of the Seas.  She loves this mega-sized class of ship so much that while she was on Oasis of the Seas she booked a future cruise on the new Harmony of the SeasThe Harmony is now her favourite ship in this class - she didn't have enough time to check out the whole ship so Pat has booked two 7-night back-to-back cruises on  Harmony of the Seas in January/February 2018.  She has also booked a westbound Transatlantic cruise on the new Symphony of the Seas next fall.

Last summer Pat took her bucket list trip of a lifetime which exceeded her high expectations -  a land & sea trip to Alaska.  This 15-night "Kenai Explorer" included 3 nights in Fairbanks, 2 nights in Denali, 1 night in Mt. McKinley, and 3 nights in Kenai followed by a 7 night cruise on the Coral Princess, ending in Vancouver.  She loved Kenai so much she is looking into a return trip - a week long stay followed by a southbound cruise.

Pat has been to all-inclusive resorts in Cuba and Jamaica, most recently to Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica, her second trip to this resort.  She received a behind the scenes tour and also did a site visit for Sandals, Ocho Rios

Pat loves lazy beach days at the cruise lines’ private islands but has also enjoyed excursions to Dunn’s River Falls, swimming with the dolphins, Segway tours, submarine rides, biking tours and running the 5K on Disney’s Castaway Cay Island.

She loves the different seasons that living in Ontario offers, but especially loves the winter and the snow, living in a rural area on the outskirts of Lindsay.  As a family, they are actively involved in many sports including biking, camping, hiking, skating and hockey - they are season ticket holders for the Peterborough Petes and have stopped to enjoy NHL games in various cities en route to Disney World.

After working in various areas of the medical field for the past twenty-five years, Pat decided she needed a change of pace to focus on something that she is passionate about - traveling and helping people plan their vacations.
