SUE WHITFORD, Cruise Counsellor

Born and raised in the UK with her father in the British Army, travelling was a way of life for Sue. She has lived in Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany, Holland,  Spain, Luxemburg  and the UK, often travelling as an ‘unaccompanied minor’ from the age of 6. In fact, when Sue moved to Canada and married, it was the first time living in the same country for more than two years straight.

Always looking for something new and different, Sue and her husband returned from a cruise in March on Hurtigruten, on a working 'cruise' ship that travelled the coast of Norway delivering mail, supplies and passengers up the coast.  They loved the unique experience and incredible views of the northern lights.  Sue enjoyed Hurtigruten so much, that she cruised again on them to Canada/New England from Halifax to New York.  This fall, Sue is hosting a group travelling to Africa for a Safari adventure.

With a husband who embraces travel as much as Sue, together with their children, they have visited parts of Africa, Asia, Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe. They have cruised the Caribbean on Carnival and  took a river cruise in Egypt in 2013 on Viking River Cruises. In 2015, they travelled to China, and in February of 2016 vacationed in Costa Rica.  In 2017 Sue hosted an Emerald river cruise on the Emerald Dawn from Budapest to Prague with a group of friends who all enjoyed this relaxed small ship cruising.  Also, in 2017 Sue's big adventure was a trip to Peru where she climbed Machu Pichu on an adverture tour with G Adventures.

Last spring, Sue attended a Cruise Convention in Fort Lauderdale where she attended seminars and workshops, a trade show and toured the Norwegian Escape while it was in port in Miami.  Following the convention, Sue set sail on Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas to the Eastern Caribbean.   Last year Sue also sailed on a 9-night ocean cruise on the 1000-passenger Viking Sky from Athens to Venice - her favourite cruise so far.  It was a big change from the 3,000 passenger Ruby Princess, that she sailed on in 2016 to the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles.

With grown children moved on, Sue was looking for an avenue to keep her busy. She feels fortunate to be welcomed into a career that has expanded her travel knowledge and allows her to share her passion for travel, finding the best fit for each person’s individual needs.
